I must say I am positively surprised by the efforts of the LA clippers recently. They are 4-0 in their last 4 games despite playing without Paul George in their last 3 games. PG last played in the win at Portland, he is once again listed as questionable with an elbow injury, but LA could get Nicolas Batum back who is recovering from an ankle injury. The Clippers have covered the spread in 4 of their last 6 overall and are 4-1 SU against the Jazz. In PG’s absence players like Marcus Morris Sr. and Luke Kennard have taken over the responsibilities on the offensive end. Morris had 24 points in the 16 point win over the Suns the other day, while the entire team shot 55% from the field. They’ll need a similar effort to beat Utah tonight, in Salt Lake City they’ve recorded just 1 win in 8 visits.
Utah Jazz
The Jazz are on a roll right now having won 7 games in a row, plus in those 7 games they are 5-2 ATS. Their last 3 wins came by 25, 22 and 32 points, so the Clippers could be in trouble here if they get off to a cold start here. Donovan Mitchell has been cooking, during the win streak he is averaging 29.4 points per game while making 4.3 threes per game on 54% shooting from the field. I’ll be interested to see who the Clippers throw at him tonight as that would normally be Paul George. Utah is also really solid at home this season winning 9 of their 13 games, right now they are on a 4-game win streak against LA.
With George not playing it could be a struggle for the Clippers here. The Jazz have dominated really solid opponents lately and playing back home should be added motivation here. I think they’ll win their 5th in a row over the Clippers, so I’m backing them to cover.
