Detroit Pistons

Detroit PistonsAfter a brief high point against the Houston Rockets and a 112-104 win, the Detroit Pistons stumbled back to reality with a 98-78 defeat at Cleveland on Friday night. The 78 points was a season-low for them and as a team they shot just 36% from the field and 30% from three-point land while committing a whopping 23 turnovers on the night. Rookie star Cade Cunningham continued to struggle as he took only 8 shots on the night and finished the game with just 9 points. I am not expecting much from them tonight as their road form currently reads 1-13 SU in their last 14 outings.

Toronto Raptors

Toronto RaptorsUnlike the Pistons, the Raptors are actually a serious team trying to make the postseason. They managed to end a 3-game losing streak against the Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday beating them 115-109. Sure, the Sixers were without Embiid and a bunch of other players, but every win counts these days. Fred VanVleet played his heart out and finished with 32 points, while OG Anunoby and Gary Trent Jr. both added 20 apiece. After tonight’s game the Raptors will embark on a 6-game road trip, so winning tonight’s game will definitely be a confidence booster. Toronto has gone 6-3 against Eastern Conference teams in the 9 games they’ve faced them so far.

To put it plain and simple – I really cannot see the Pistons doing anything in this game. The win against Houston happened only because the Rockets are just as bad, if not worse, than Detroit is. Toronto is on a different level and I expect a double-digit victory at home here. Back the Raptors to cover.

Toronto Raptors -8.5 Point Spread is available at -110 odds on bet365

It’s no secret the Pistons have a hard time scoring, they’ve barely cracked the 100-point mark once in their last 5 games. On the season they average just 94.8 points per game, the lowest mark in the league. Against the Cavaliers last night they managed only 78 points which is an embarrassment to be honest. The total has gone under in 5 of their last 6 games and I’ll be shocked if that’s not the case in tonight’s game as well. The Raptors haven’t impressed either over their last 4 games scoring under 102 points per game. They should crack the 100 point mark though, but I don’t see the Pistons scoring enough to push the total over here. Toronto plays at the 3rd slowest pace in the NBA and have the 11th best defensive efficiency. All signs point to a low scoring affair, so let’s take the under with confidence.
