San Antonio Spurs – Atlanta Hawks Predictions & Odds

Atlanta Hawks vs San Antonio Spurs betting tips and predictions for Wednesday’s NBA game. After ending a perfect 5-game homestand, the Atlanta Hawks hit the road and travel to San Antonio to take on the Spurs. Read on for all our free predictions and betting tips.

Atlanta Hawks

Atlanta HawksAtlanta on the road and Atlanta at home are two different teams. The Hawks have gone just 1-8 this season in away games, so their 5-game win streak might not mean anything as all 5 games were played at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta. The Hawks have failed cover the spread in their last 11 road games and are just 2-18 SU against the Spurs in the last 20 games played at the AT&T Center. All streaks must end at some point, but the Hawks will have it difficult tonight as they’ll be without two important rotation players. Deandre Hunter has been ruled out with a wrist injury, while Onyeka Okongwu is out indefinitely with a shoulder problem. Atlanta will once again rely on Trae Young who scored 21 of his 30 points in the 2nd half of the 113-101 win over the Thunder the other day.

San Antonio Spurs

San Antonio SpursAs good as the Hawks have been over their last 5 games, the Spurs have gone in the opposite direction with 5 losses in a row. All 5 games were against Western Conference opponents, which isn’t ideal as they’ve given their rivals 5 wins while dropping to 13th in Western Conference standings. It wasn’t all bad news following the 115-111 defeat against Phoenix on Monday, that was the first time in 5 games the Spurs were able to cover the spread. Dejounte Murray also had a solid game with his first triple-double of the season, but as a team the Spurs didn’t have an answer for Phoenix’s perimeter shooting. Tonight against the Hawks they could be without a couple of key rotation players. Zach Collins is ruled out with an ankle injury, while Jock Landale and Doug McDermott are both questionable.

Even though they’ve won 5 in a row, it’s hard for me to back the Hawks in this one, primarily because of their away form. They’ve lost 7 straight on the road and haven’t covered in either of their 9 games so far. Also against the Spurs they’ve won just twice in their last 20 visits. As bad as San Antonio has been lately, they are still 4-3 ATS in their 7 home games this season. Give me San Antonio and the free points here.

Spurs +4 Point Spread is available at -110 odds on bet365

San Antonio home games have trended towards the over as 10 of the last 11 have all cashed on that bet. Same goes for their games vs opponents from the Eastern Conference with 9 of the last 12 dating back to last season have gone over. Atlanta is one of the worst defensive teams on the road this season giving up 113.8 points per game and the Spurs are the worst defensive team at home giving up 115.3 per game. San Antonio likes to push the pace, they rank 5th in the NBA with 101.5 possessions per game. Both of these teams take good care of the ball, so not many possessions will be wasted in tonight’s game. Atlanta ranks 3rd in the NBA in turnover percentage, while the Spurs are just 3 spots below them. The last 3 games between them have averaged 247.6 points per game, that’s a recipe for a high scoring game right there. Take the over.
