These are desperate times for the Philadelphia 76ers who are still missing their best player Joel Embiid who has been out with covid-19 for a while now. The team has won only once in their last 5 games and that was at Denver a couple of nights ago. Over the weekend they lost yet again, this time it was the Portland Trail Blazers who beat them 118-111. As it normally is in 76ers games these days, it was Tyrese Maxey who stepped up in Embiid’s absence and led the team with 28 points. Tobias Harris also had 28 and as a team the Sixers shot the ball at 50% from the field, however without their big man down low they simply couldn’t get stops down the stretch. Philly is just 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games, they have just 1 win in their last 7 games overall.
Sacramento Kings
The 123-105 loss vs the Utah Jazz was the final nail in the coffin of Luke Walton’s career as a head-coach of the Sacramento Kings. It was Sacramento’s 7th loss in 8 games and the team decided to part ways with him after 2 years of him being in charge. In his place comes Alvin Gentry and I’m interested to see what new ideas he brings to the table, considering he has been part of the coaching staff when Walton was there. The Kings have managed to avoid injuries this season, but that hasn’t helped them much as they are just 1-7 ATS in their last 8 games. Against the 76ers they have a poor home record against the spread, they’ve gone just 2-11 ATS in their last 13 when hosting Philly.
Normally when a team changes coaches it has a positive impact on the team in the short term. This will be a fresh new start for the likes of De’Aaron Fox and Harrison Barnes, I think they’ll take advantage of all the injuries the Sixers have in this one and should come out on top at home. With an offensively minded coach like Gentry in charge now, I think we’ll see a lot of their games producing a lot of points. 2 of the last 3 meetings have gone over the total and the two teams have combined for 236.3 points in those 3 games.
