After beating the Lakers and Pacers in consecutive games, the Indiana Pacers fell 117-109 to the LA Clippers last night. That puts them at 0-5 for the season in road games, but they get a quick turnaround tonight against Phoenix. Damian Lillard finally managed to connect two solid games as he finished with 27 points against the Clippers, however Portland didn’t defend in that game all that well as LA finished the game shooting 51.8% from the field and over 50% from downtown. Portland’s bench production has also been weak, they only got 25 points from them last night. That’s something that will need to go up if they want to become a serious team in the Western Conference.
Phoenix Suns
Momentum is definitely on the side of Phoenix here, despite all the noise surrounding the teams owner Robert Sarver. The team hasn’t allowed that distraction to have a negative effect on them and as a result they’ve improved to 4th place in the Western Conference. They got an unusual hero in Cameron Payne who led them with 24 points against the Sacramento Kings, if they can get solid production from him tonight they’ll be in a good position. The Suns really enjoy playing at home, they’ve won 4 of their last 5 games there and haven’t lost to the Blazers since 2019.
Picking the Suns here should be fairly obvious, they are the more in form team and unlike their opponent they actually put in the effort on the defensive end. They hold teams to 43% shooting as opposed to the 50% the Blazers allow. I think that will be the difference maker in tonight’s game, so I’m going with the Suns.
