What a game it was yesterday in Los Angeles as the Portland Trail Blazers overturned an 8-point deficit late in the game to stay unbeaten on the season and improve their record to 3-0. Damian Lillard scored over 40 points for the 2nd consecutive game and I think it’s safe to say that he is officially back from all his injury setbacks from last season. The early tip-off didn’t bother the Blazers as they also got 16 points from Jerami Grant and 16 rebounds from Josh Hart.
This being a 2nd night of a back-to-back means that they didn’t have much rest after yesterday’s game, but playing at home should compensate for that. The Blazers will need to give it their all though, as the Nuggets have had their number over the past couple of season beating them 7 times in the last 10 meetings.
Denver Nuggets
The Nuggets have bounced back quite well after their opening game loss to the Utah Jazz. They are coming off a 122-117 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder in what was their home opener. The MVP Jokic posted another impressive stat line with 19 points, 16 rebounds and 13 assists as he took only 10 shots from the field. Getting his teammates involved proved to be the winning formula here as Caldwell-Pope and Michael Porter Jr. each had over 20 points in the win.
Jamal Murray also chipped in with 16 points as he continues to ramp up following his knee injury. The Nuggets have looked decent, however their defense will need improving as in the 3 games so far they’ve allowed 117, 123 and 123 points which just isn’t going to cut it in the postseason. Against Portland they have a solid 5-1 SU/ATS record in the last 6 meetings and as a result the oddsmakers have them favored by 3.5 points tonight.
With rest advantage on their side and Nikola Jokic slowly finding his MVP form, the Nuggets will be hard to beat here.
