Tyrese Maxey was once again the leader for the Philadelphia 76ers as they finally ended a 5-game losing streak with a big 103-89 win at Denver. Maxey stepped up big time with 22 points and 5 rebounds, while Seth Curry added 20 of his own for the shorthanded Sixers who are still without Joel Embiid. The big man is out indefinitely with covid-19, he joins a long list of Sixers who are currently out. Danny Green is likely to miss tonight’s game, Matisse Thybulle is questionable and we all know the story surrounding Ben Simmons. All in all, the Sixers are a team that’s struggling right now, they’ve covered the spread just once in their last 6 games. Against Portland they have only 2 wins in the last 8 meetings.
Portland Trail Blazers
The Trail Blazers haven’t impressed either this season, but at least they are winning games at home on a consistent basis. They are on a run of 7 straight wins at Moda Center and are coming off two big wins over the Toronto Raptors and Chicago Bulls. One thing that could hinder them tonight though could be the status of Damian Lillard. He did play in both of those games, but is still bothered with an abdominal injury which has him listed as ‘probable’ for tonight’s game. The Blazers will need him, sustaining a winning form at home is crucial to their playoff aspirations this season as this team is one of the worst road teams in the league right now. Against the Sixers though they are 7-1 SU in the last 8 home games, so there’s reasons to be optimistic ahead of tonight’s game if you are a Blazers fan.
Until Joel Embiid returns I am not touching the 76ers. Sure, surprises like the one against Denver are always possible, but I think the Blazers style of play does not suit this 76ers team at all. Philly did beat them earlier in the season, but they were at full strength in that game. Give me the Blazers to avenge that defeat with a big win tonight.

With so many injured players out, Philadelphia has had it’s fair share of issues scoring the ball. Embiid is averaging 21.9 points per game, their offense is basically built around him. In their last two games they’ve scored 103 and 85 points, that number will have to go way higher against Portland if they want to get anything out of tonight’s game. Blazers average the 3rd highest amount of points at home this season at 115.9 per game. They also own the 5th highest offensive efficiency in the entire NBA, so they are very hard to stop when they get it going. And they do get it going at home especially, they’ve scored 110+ points in all but two of their home games this season. The fact that the over has landed 7 times in the last 10 meetings between these two also helps. I think we are in for a higher scoring game in this one. Let’s back the over.
