Boston Celtics vs Portland Trail Blazers betting tips and predictions for Saturday’s game in the NBA. Boston will try to bounce back from a tough loss at Utah as they travel to Oregon to take on the Portland Trail Blazers. Read on for all our free predictions and betting tips.
The Celtics put up a solid fight against the Utah Jazz last night in Salt Lake City, but in the end they fell 137-130. They did manage to cover the spread though as Utah was favored by 8 points prior to tipoff. Jayson Tatum had 37 points and 6 rebounds, with 2 more players in Horford and Schroder scoring 20+ on the night. Jaylen Brown took the night off due to load management, he just recently recovered from a hamstring injury and didn’t want to risk anything. Celtics could get him back tonight which would be a huge boost to their ambitions. In their last 9 games vs Portland, the Celtics are 6-3 SU and in their last 8 games vs Western Conference teams they’ve covered the spread 6 times.
Portland Trail Blazers
Head coach Chauncey Billups was visibly upset after Portland’s home loss against San Antonio on Thursday. The Blazers managed only 83 points against one of the worst teams in the West as they dropped their 4th game in 5 outings. Damian Lillard missed yet another game, the two top scorers McCollum and Powell combined to go just 10 of 31 in the loss and as a team the Blazers connected on just 35% of their shots from the field. Dame won’t play in tonight’s game either as he tries to recover from an abdominal injury. Despite the loss to San Antonio, Portland still has a really good home record at 10-2 this season, but they’ll have to improve drastically and soon if they want to make the playoffs in the loaded West.
Boston has been the more consistent team here, Portland has just gone 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games and in the last 10 meetings they are 4-6 SU. Celtics get Jaylen Brown back, while Portland continues to play without their best player and leader Lillard. I’m taking the Celtics to get a win, but it’ll be close.

Scoring hasn’t been an issue when these two teams meet up. In their last 10 games head-to-head the Over is 7-3 and they are averaging 221.7 points in those games. The 3 most recent games have all gone over the total and 243.6 points were scored per game. We probably won’t see that many points tonight, but I still expect at least something in the range of 225 here. Boston just got destroyed by the Jazz for 137 points, while Portland allowed 114 against the Spurs. The Blazers rank just 29th in defensive efficiency this season, only the Memphis Grizzlies are worse than them. The two meetings last season finished 129-119 and 116-115, the season before that 128-124 and 118-106 so I expect something similar tonight. Let’s back the over.
