The buzz around the Phoenix Suns hasn’t died down just yet as we approach the all-star break. They’ve won 4 of their last 5 games, but more importantly Kevin Durant made an appearance at a team practice yesterday which means his knee injury is almost fully healed so we can expect him to suit up for his new team as soon as next week. For the 31-27 Suns that is a much needed boost as they’ll look to secure home court advantage in the 1st round of the playoffs in the remaining 30 games or so after the break.
They have a tough match-up tonight vs the Kings who they already beat once this season 122-117 back in late November. Devin Booker had a huge scoring night that game scoring 44 points, the Suns will look to rely on him once again here as they try to get their 20th home win of the season.
Sacramento Kings
Sacramento needed overtime to beat the newly formed superstar duo of Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic, as they took down the Mavs over the weekend 133-128. With his 36 points, De’Aaron Fox once again showed his a worthy All-Star this season and a lot is expected out of him in tonight’s game as he matches up with the veteran point guard Chris Paul.
The Kings have done well over their last 18 games winning 12 of them, they’ve also covered the spread against the Suns 6 times in the last 9 meetings. However, only twice in the last 7 meetings they came out on top, which is a bit of a concern heading into this game. Malik Monk has been downgraded to out with an ankle injury.
It’s been a struggle from three-point land for the Kings in their last 3 games as they’re averaging only 9 of them, if that doesn’t improve tonight they’ll be in trouble here. Phoenix is one of the better home teams in the league, I expect them to be up for it tonight. They have 17 wins in their last 20 games played on a Tuesday, so let’s back them to continue that trend.

Scoring has been the forte of these Kings lately, they’ve scored 130+ points in 3 of their last 4 games. Their defense hasn’t shined though, they faced the Rockets and Mavericks twice each over those 4 games and have allowed 120+ points in 3 of those games. A team like the Suns should know how to take advantage of that, they did so in the first meeting of the season when they put 122 points past them as the two teams combined for 239.
The projected total is set for 233.5 points in tonight’s game, which doesn’t sound high at all when you have the number one offense in terms of efficiency playing. The Kings are scoring 115.7 points per 100 possessions this season, after letting Mikal Bridges go before the trade deadline, the Suns could have serious issues defending moving forward.
