Phoenix Suns vs Los Angeles Lakers betting tips and predictions for Tuesday’s NBA game on NBA TV. The Lakers head to Phoenix for a meeting with the Suns as they try to avoid losing their 7th game in a row. Read on for all our free predictions and betting tips.
The Suns took the night off in their latest game against Oklahoma City and lost 117-96 on the road. Devin Booker and Deandre Ayton both rested and none of the starters played more than 32 minutes. Chris Paul ended the game with just 11 points and 9 assists, but Phoenix won’t be bothered by the loss too much as they’ve already clinched home court advantage throughout the playoffs. They’ve won 9 of their last 11 games and are 5-1 SU in their last 6 at home.
With nothing left to play for in the regular season, I wouldn’t be surprised if they rested their main stars once again tonight against the Lakers, so I would recommend being cautious here before making any bets. Phoenix is 7-3 SU in the last 10 head-to-head, they’ve also covered in 4 of 5 at home against the Lakers.
Los Angeles Lakers
ESPN has estimated the Lakers’ chances of making the postseason to be 3% at this point. They are 2 games back from the San Antonio Spurs who are in 10th place at the moment, but in actuality it’s 2.5 games as San Antonio holds the tie-breaker. That’s not the news you want to hear with just 4 regular season games remaining, so the Lakers would have to go 4-0 the rest of the way while San Antonio would have to lose all 4 of their games which is very unlikely.
LA just got destroyed at home 129-118 by the Denver Nuggets as they once again played without LeBron James who was unable to suit up due to his ankle injury. Anthony Davis had 28 points and 9 rebounds, while Russell Westbrook added 27, 10 rebounds and 7 assists. The Lakers have just 2 wins on the road in their last 17 outings.
The Lakers are pretty much done at this point. They’ve lost to Phoenix by 10, 18 and 29 points this season. Even if LeBron plays tonight, I still don’t see them getting anything out of tonight’s game. Let’s back the home team to cover.
Phoenix Suns vs Los Angeles Lakers Predictions & Odds
Over their last 5 games the Lakers have given up 129, 114, 122, 128 and 116 points. They are among the worst teams in every statistical category defensively this season and that’s not something you want to hear when facing the best team in the league. Phoenix dropped 140 on the Lakers the last time they played them, I wouldn’t be shocked if we saw something similar tonight.
With no pressure on them, the Suns can play a free flowing offensive game and score as many points as they like here. Their last 7 of 9 games vs Western Conference opponents have gone over the total and at home this season they are 22-17 on the O/U.
The Lakers have also gone over the total quite a few times than under this season with their record currently sitting at 23-15 in road games. They are the 5th worst defence on the road this season allowing 116.4 points per game while playing the 6th fastest pace in the NBA.
Phoenix isn’t far behind in pace averaging 101.9 possessions per game, so if the two teams opt to run here the Lakers defence will be toast. With LA going over in 7 of 9 games and in 7 of 8 vs Pacific Division opponents, I think backing the points is the way to go here.
