Desmond Bane scored 28, while Jaren Jackson Jr. added 21 for the Grizzlies who beat the Kings for the 2nd time in 10 days. Ja Morant also played, he finished with 18 points and 9 assists as Memphis won their 1st game since he came back to the line-up following a long layoff. As far as health and safety protocols go, the Grizzlies should get majority of their players back for this one. Brooks, Melton, Culver and Pons have all been upgraded to questionable here, so there’s a good chance they could be cleared to play. Memphis has dealt well with the covid outbreak, they are 10-5 ATS in their last 15 games and 7-1 ATS in their last 8 on the road. They like playing teams from the Western Conference for some reason, in the last 13 such games they are 9-4 SU.
Phoenix Suns
Phoenix is the exact opposite of that. They’ve covered in only 2 of their last 7 vs Western Conference teams, however playing at home here will be an encouraging factor as they’ve won 15 of their last 16 at the Footprint Center. In the 9 point loss vs Golden State they struggled to contain Curry who dropped 33 on them. Offensively they played an okay game with 5 players scoring in double figures, however Devin Booker was a big disappointment as he finished with just 13 on the night on 5-for-19 shooting. When a 36-year old Chris Paul leads you in scoring, that means something isn’t right. As good as the Suns have been this year, covering at home has been a problem. In 18 games they are just 9-9 ATS, mainly because the oddsmakers favor them by a ton of points in most games.
That’s exactly the case here tonight – Phoenix is favored by 8 points here. They did beat the Grizzlies by 25 points in the earlier meeting this season, but Memphis has gotten so much better since then.
