Philadelphia 76ers

Philadelphia 76ers 1Resting James Harden proved to be costly for the 76ers as they suffered their 1st loss since the mega trade falling 99-82 to the Heat on the road this weekend. Joel Embiid had just 22 points on the night while making only 4 of 15 shots from the field, he was harassed by the Miami defence all game long and it turns out he cannot do it by himself.

Tyrese Maxey had a solid 17 points, but that’s way below what he’s been averaging with Harden in the line-up. The Beard should return tonight as the scheduled rest was just for 1 game and his hamstring is responding well to the treatment, which is really good news for Philly fans who are expecting their team to make a deep playoff run.

They enter tonight’s game on a 10-game win streak against the Chicago Bulls, they’ve also beaten them in 7 straight home games and have covered the spread in the last 6 meetings as well.

Chicago Bulls

Chicago BullsThe Bulls are in a bit of trouble right now. They’ve dropped 4 games in a row and slipped all the way down to 4th in the East, just 1 game ahead of the 5th seeded surging Boston Celtics. They’ll have to start winning soon if they want to remain one of the top 4 teams in their Conference.

Against the 76ers they’ll be shorthanded as Nikola Vucevic has been ruled out with a hamstring issue, joining Alex Caruso and Lonzo Ball who have been out for a while now. Chicago is just 3-9 SU on the road in their last 12 games and in their last 10 against Philadelphia they’ve managed to cover the spread just once.

DeMar DeRozan’s production has dropped off a bit, after earning player of the month honors in February he is averaging only 25.5 points per game in March , which is a drop off of almost 10 points.

Philly has owned the regular season series so far by winning all 3 games. They’ve won by 5, 9 and 11 points, all those wins were in the pre-Harden era. With James back at the helm today, I’m expecting another dominant performance in front of the home fans. Back the Sixers to dominate.

Philadelphia 76ers vs Chicago Bulls Predictions & Odds

We saw the effect of not having James Harden and what it does to the Philadelphia offense. They put up just 82 points against the Heat, before that they had 4 games in a row of 123 or more points. I expect their total to return to those numbers tonight, especially with Vucevic not playing which leaves a big hole in the middle for the Bulls.

In their last 2 against Chicago the Sixers put up 114 and 119 points, which is also an encouraging sign. Two of the last 3 most recent meetings have also gone over the total and that’s been the trend in recent 76ers games as well with 6 of their last 7 cashing on that bet.

Against Eastern Conference opponents they’ve gone over the total in 5 of 6 games, offering very little resistance at the back. Not counting the Miami game, opponents have scored 119, 108 and 109 points against them in their last 3 games, a team like the Bulls should know how to take advantage of that.

They’ve put up 112 and 124 in their last 2, while allowing 118 and 130 to the Hawks and Bucks. I can see another high scoring game happening in this contest, so let’s go with the points here.
