Philadelphia 76ers

Philadelphia 76ers 1It’s a quick turnaround for the 76ers who are coming off a 93-88 loss at home against the Toronto Raptors last night. It wasn’t the prettiest of games to watch as neither team shot better than 41% from the field.

Philadelphia’s duo of Harden and Embiid combined for just 11-for-32 shooting from the field and 38 points scored, they will have to do a lot better tonight if they want to get one over Miami.

These 2 teams actually met in the first week of March, Miami won that game easily by 17-points at home, but that was with James Harden not playing for Philly. He should be ready to go tonight, this Philadelphia team has won 10 of the last 13 home games vs Miami and they are 9-4 SU over their last 13 games overall.

Miami Heat

Miami HeatThe Miami Heat have listed Jimmy Butler as questionable due to an ankle injury, while Victor Oladipo will miss the game with a back problem. That shouldn’t diminish their chances of winning here though, this team has had 2 days of rest in between games so they should be up for this one. They lead the regular season series against Philly 2-1 and have 3 wins in their last 4 games overall.

Their road form in particular has been impressive with them covering the spread 7 times in the last 8 games. Against Philly they’ve covered in 5 of the last 7 games, so that’s another reason for Heat fans to be optimistic here.

Tyler Herro is the player to watch here for Miami, he is coming off a 26 point performance off the bench in the 120-108 win over OKC, covering for the absence of Jimmy Butler.

I’m still not convinced by the Embiid and Harden duo. They just got beat by a Raptors squad at home that is way below them in the standings. Miami is more rested and focused at this point of the season, go with the road team to cover here.

Philadelphia 76ers vs Miami Heat Predictions & Odds

Neither of the 3 meetings so far this season were pretty to watch. The last time they met we saw only 181 points scored, so we could be in for another one of those games tonight. Philadelphia is coming off a low scoring game against Toronto, the defense of Miami which they are facing tonight is much harder to score on than the Raptors, so I’m curious to see how Embiid and Harden respond here.

The last 10 meetings have averaged 217.6 points per game, but with the news of Butler potentially missing this game I’m not sure if Miami will focus all that much on scoring the ball.

Their plan will be to keep the Sixers from scoring as much as they can and get the win on the defensive end. These 2 teams rank only 29th and 28th in pace of play averaging just over 98 possessions per game and with the last 4 of 5 meetings played in Philadelphia going under the total I think the smart bet in tonight’s game is to go with the under.
