Golden State Warriors

Golden State WarriorsAll eyes will be on Stephen Curry in tonight’s game as he gets close to breaking yet another all-time record. Curry is just 9 three-pointers away from tying Ray Allen for most three made in NBA history, so we could be in for something special tonight. The Warriors have won 3 of their last 4 and are trying to sweep the season series against Philly who they beat 116-96 in late November at Chase Center. Now they face them on the road, which shouldn’t make much of a difference for them as they’ve won at Philly 7 times in the last 8 visits. Former Sixers Andre Iguodala could make a return to the line-up after a long layoff with a knee injury, he hasn’t played in almost a month. Warriors have covered 6 times in the last 6 games vs Eastern Conference teams and they are also 14-3 SU in the last 17 meetings with the Sixers.

Philadelphia 76ers

Philadelphia 76ers 1I must admit I expected more from the 76ers the other night when they faced the Utah Jazz, but they got destroyed by 22 points which snapped a 3-game win streak. Joel Embiid had only 19 points and 9 rebounds, a bit under what we are used to seeing from him. However, tonight against a Warriors team that doesn’t really have anyone on the inside to guard him I expect a lot more points and rebounds. Embiid did not play in the first meeting of the season, the Sixers have been a different team since he’s returned to the line-up winning 4 of 6 games. He did suffer an abdominal injury against the Jazz, but hopefully the Sixers medical staff can get him ready for tonight. Philly needs to improve their home form if they want to become one of the top 4 teams in the East, they’ve not covered the spread in 6 straight at the Wells Fargo Center.

It’s hard to go against the Warriors and Stephen Curry, especially when he is chasing history. Golden State is 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings and with them being only 1.5 point favorites here I’m really liking their chances. Back the Warriors to cover.

Golden State -1.5 Point Spread is available at -110 odds on bet365

The under has been a popular bet in the recent meetings between these two teams, it has landed in 3 games in a row and an average of just 207 points per game were scored. Golden State has the number one defense in the league and as a result 6 of their last 8 games have gone under the total, including 7 of their last 8 on the road. If we look at the last 14 head-to-head the under has cashed 10 times between these two, so I am really liking this bet tonight. Philadelphia also leans more on the under this season, it has landed 8 times in the last 12 games for them and at home they are 4-7 on the O/U. Sixers play at the slowest pace in the NBA averaging just 95.9 possessions per game, the Warriors are 5th in that category, but with Philadelphia playing at home here I think they will try to control the tempo and slow things down. I’m going with the under.
