The surprise of the season according to many are the Washington Wizards with a 8-3 record. They are coming off a big win at Cleveland 97-94 on Thursday, with their biggest star Bradley Beal struggling for the majority of the game and scoring only 13 points on 4-for-19 shooting. This team has a lot of versatility, Kyle Kuzma had 22, Montrezl Harrell jumped in with 24 off the bench and they still have Rui Hachimura who hasn’t played a single game this season due to injury. They have good fundamentals, right now only two teams are better than them in rebounding and they also rank 5th in free throw shooting.
Orlando Magic
After a surprising 107-100 home win over the Utah Jazz, the Orlando Magic were brought back to Earth by the Brooklyn Nets with a 123-90 blowout defeat. The young Magic are just 1-5 in their 6 home games this season and that record could further worsen tonight as they could be without one of their more experienced players Wendell Carter Jr. who is dealing with an eye issue. Orlando has covered the spread just 5 times in their last 19 games. They haven’t performed well against teams from the Eastern Conference having gone just 1-5 ATS in the last 6.
Ever since their surge late last season the Wizards have been covering the spread like crazy. This season they are already 7-4 ATS in 11 games having faced some tough opponents along the way. Although the Magic have surprised us a couple of times they have just 3 wins in their last 19 games. Washington is locked in and loaded at every position, I think they get the job done fairly easily here.

Oddsmakers setting the total tonight at just 203.5 points is a bit of an odd one. The total has gone over in 7 of the last 10 meetings between the two teams with an average of 226 points being scored between them in those games. All three meetings last season went over the total with the games ending 131-116, 113-120 and 120-130. There is one missing factor that ignited all that scoring last season though and that is Russell Westbrook, but still the two teams have been involved in some high scoring games recently it would be hard to imagine both of them finishing under 100 points in this one. The Magic just allowed 120 against the Nets the other night and although the Wizards have held their last 3 opponents under 100 points, they did have nights where they’ve conceded 109 against Toronto and 118 against Atlanta. I don’t think we’ll see a crazy score like those 3 last season, but the two teams should still have enough to push the total over here.
