Winning 4 games in a row must feel good for the Knicks fans, but sadly for them, it doesn’t do much for the team in the grand scheme of things as they are still 4.5 games behind the 10th seeded Atlanta Hawks and it’s only a matter of days when they are mathematically eliminated from the play-in tournament. Julius Randle is rumoured to be unhappy with his team, several sources close to the situation are reporting he might try and look for a way out of New York similar to what James Harden did with Houston.
That’s not the news Knicks fans want to hear as Randle, despite a down year, remains their best player. It’ll be an interesting offseason yet again at Madison Square Garden, but before that, they still have 6 games to play. Against tonight’s opponent, they did win last time they played them 121-106 on the road, so there’s optimism ahead of tonight’s game as well.
Charlotte Hornets
The Hornet’s plans of catching the Brooklyn Nets in the 8th seed suffered a blow on Monday as they lost to Denver 113-109 at home which was only their 2nd loss in 9 games. They are now 1 game back from the Nets and would play the Atlanta Hawks in the play-in game, so there’s still plenty of work left to be done before the regular season is over.
Gordon Hayward’s ankle situation doesn’t seem to be improving, he has been out since early February. Getting him back for the postseason would be a big boost for this team. They’ve been pretty solid as of late against the spread covering in 4 of their last 5 games on the road. Against the Knicks, they are 6-3 ATS in the last 9 meetings.
It promises to be an exciting game, the last time they played each other we saw the Knicks steal one on the road.
