It has been a season to forget for most of the year for the Knicks, however against the Atlanta Hawks they’ve had a lot of success beating them in all 3 meetings so far.
The last time they faced them at MSG was on Christmas Day last year and it finished with a 14-point win for the home team. However, so much has happened since and now the Atlanta Hawks are 1.5-point favourites to get the win here.
That won’t discourage the Knicks who have won 2 of their last 3 games and have covered the spread in 7 of their last 9 games overall. Two things that have bothered New York though are their home form – they’ve gone just 1-7 ATS in their last 8 games and vs Eastern Conference teams they’ve won just once in 10 games overall.
Atlanta Hawks
Speaking of form, the Atlanta Hawks aren’t a team to be afraid of either, but at least they’ve won 4 of their last 6 games and are almost certain to finish 10th in the Eastern Conference standings which guarantees a play-in tournament spot. This team has been a big letdown in road games this season winning just 12 of 34 games and recently they’ve failed to cover in 6 straight away from home.
They’ll once again be without Lou Williams who is out due to personal issues, while Bogdan Bogdanovic is questionable with a quad injury. The good news is they have a healthy Trae Young who just loves playing at MSG. He is averaging 31 points per game vs the Knicks this season and earlier this week he had back-to-back 47 and 46 point games.
As much as I like Atlanta, missing Bogdanovic will be huge for them and against a Knicks side that’s had their number all 3 times this season, I’m not counting on them to do anything. With nothing to play for, the Knicks can relax and just play without any pressure which should result in a better performance. Go with the home team here.
