New Orleans Pelicans vs Boston Celtics betting tips and predictions for Friday’s NBA game at Smoothie King Center. An 8-game win streak is on the line tonight in New Orleans as the Boston Celtics face the Pelicans in hopes of extending their run. Read on for all our free predictions and betting tips.
New Orleans Pelicans
The Pels have a run of their own going right now having won their last 3 games against Houston, Memphis and Chicago. Star forward Zion Williamson has missed the last 2 games, he has officially been listed as day-to-day ahead of tonight’s game with a foot issue.
Outside of that the Pelicans are almost fully healthy, they finally have C.J. McCollum playing at a high level after a couple of poor performances. At 9-6 they are ahead of both Memphis and Dallas for the division title right now, so this team is definitely headed in the right direction. Beating the Celtics will be a challenge, but with a 5-1 SU record in their last 6 home games, they have every right to be optimistic ahead of tonight’s game.
After a slow start to the season, the Celtics look to have figured things out and are beating teams with ease right now. They have the best Net Rating in the NBA at +7.7 and are by far the best offense with a 119.2 rating. Jayson Tatum has looked unstoppable at times, he is the early candidate for MVP honors. Just like the Pelicans, they to have a couple of key players dealing with injuries right now.
Marcus Smart and Malcolm Brogdon are both questionable with ankle and hamstring injuries, but this team has looked so good recently that it might not even matter if those two play or not. Boston’s record against Western Conference teams hasn’t been great, they are just 1-5 ATS in the last 6 such games, so that’s something to think about before making a bet on tonight’s game.
Every run has to come to an end, I feel like the Celtics wasted a lot of energy in their last win over Atlanta and this could be a problematic spot for them. The young Pelicans are eager to prove themselves and a win tonight against the title contenders in green would do just that for them. I’m giving the Pels the benefit of the doubt here and backing them at home.
New Orleans Pelicans vs Boston Celtics Predictions & Odds
It will be a meeting between the 1st and 6th best offenses we have in the NBA right now, so it promises to be an exciting game on that end of the floor. Both teams racked up over 120 points in their last game, the Celtics have scored at least 126 in 4 of their last 5 and a couple of those games were against the slow paced Pistons which is impressive in itself.
New Orleans games vs Eastern Conference teams have trended on the over for quite some time now with 6 of the last 7 cashing on that bet. They are averaging 116.2 points per game, while the Celtics are at 120 a night, while shooting a slightly better percentage. With the two teams combining to go 18-12 on the O/U this season, I think that trend carries onto tonight’s game as well, so let’s back the points here.
