Minnesota Timberwolves

Minnesota TimberwolvesThis past week has been a struggle for the Minnesota Timberwolves who have dropped 4 of their last 5 games. But, that’s the last of their concerns right now as the on-court product just hasn’t looked right in the first few weeks of the new season. Anthony Edwards is getting frustrated more and more, there is a viral video of him from a recent game in which he is standing on offense, most likely in protest as he isn’t getting as many touches as he would have liked.

The transition to having Rudy Gobert at the center position has been a tough one, but there’s still over 70 games to play and plenty of time to turn things around. They have a tough match-up coming up against a team that’s already beaten them once this season. Not only that, they are just 2-8 SU in the last 10 meetings, so it’ll be a challenge.

Phoenix Suns

Phoenix SunsThe Suns are coming off a disappointing loss at Philadelphia in which CP3 left the game early with a heel injury, he is questionable for tonight’s game. Without him the offense just didn’t look the same as they scored only 88 points, and to make matters worse they also lost Cameron Johnson to a knee injury which will keep him out for at least a month or so. They do have a solid record in head-to-head meetings with Minnesota, but all that goes out the window tonight if Chris Paul isn’t able to go. They’ve covered the spread just once on the road this season in 6 games, so I would advise waiting for the injury report to come out before making any bets on this game.

This might be Minnesota’s best chance they’ve had in a while to beat this team, but it’ll all come down to effort. If Edwards gets involved more on offense and Rudy Gobert looks like the defensive player of the year we are used to seeing him, then Minnesota should have enough to get the job done. I’m backing them to cover at home here.

Minnesota Timberwolves vs Phoenix Suns Predictions & Odds

The projected total of 226 points is a bit high for my liking here, especially after watching the Suns struggle on offense over their last 3 games. Their highest total during that stretch was 106 points against the Portland Trail Blazers, far below their season average of 112.4 they usually score. Aside from Devin Booker, I don’t see anyone on the team has a big game tonight. Deandre Ayton relies too much on CP3’s help to get points, plus he has to go up against Gobert which is always a challenge.

It’s also worth considering that the under has landed in 6 of the last 10 meetings and an average of 223.1 points per game have been scored during that stretch. Minnesota has leaned heavily towards the under this season with a 3-5 record on the O/U at home. Phoenix is yet to go over the total in 3 road games, which is understandable considering they play only at the 28th fastest pace in the NBA. With their offense just not clicking right now I think the best bet for tonight’s game is to back the under.
