Phoenix Suns

Phoenix SunsNobody seems to be able to stop the Phoenix Suns right now. The Houston Rockets were the latest team to have a crack at it and they lost by 26 points. That was the 2nd win of 20 or more points in a row for the Suns after their 119-94 triumph over the Memphis Grizzlies. Devin booker once again shined the brightest and had 26 points. Chris Paul had 15 points and 7 assists in just 30 minutes of play, the Suns are now 4-1 in road games as they travel to Minnesota. They’ve had a lot of success in recent games against the Timberwolves by beating them 4 times in the last 5 head-to-head.

Minnesota Timberwolves

Minnesota TimberwolvesJust when we thought the Timberwolves could be on to something after their 107-83 win over the LA Lakers, they were brought back to Earth by the LA Clippers as they beat them fairly easily 129-102 at Staples Center. The game was pretty much over by half-time when the Wolves were down 27 points. A big reason for the defeat was the play of Karl-Anthony Towns who finished with just 8 points. Anthony Edwards led the way with 21, but it didn’t make a difference as the defense was just non-existent. The T’Wolves have now covered in just 3 of their 12 games this season and they are also just 1-6 ATS in their last 7 home games.

It doesn’t take too much to figure out who the superior team is here. The Suns are more talented on almost every position and with a veteran leader like Chris Paul in their ranks, the Timberwolves don’t have anyone to match that with. I’m taking Phoenix to cover a small spread here.

Suns -3.0 Point Spread is available at -110 odds on bet365

Phoenix is scoring at a high clip, during their win streak they are averaging 114.8 points per game. This is mainly down to the stellar play of Devin Booker, but also others like Frank Kaminski, Cam Payne, Mikal Bridges stepping up. Phoenix had to change up their style a bit in the middle of the win streak as Deandre Ayton is battling a foot injury. Without him they are playing a much faster pace and the result is more points being scored. The same could be said for the Minnesota Timberwolves who have gone over the total in 6 of their last 8 games against Pacific Division teams. They’ve allowed 120+ points in 3 of their last 4 games and I’m not feeling real confident for them in tonight’s game. At least they’ll put up a fight at home though, so I’m expecting a final score in the realm of 120-111 to Phoenix, which would put us over the total here.
