Fresh off of their 119-108 home win over New York, the Milwaukee Bucks are going for their 5th straight win to start the new season. They are the only remaining unbeaten team in the NBA, sending out a message that they mean business this year. Giannis Antetokounmpo dropped another 30-piece last night as the Bucks held the Knicks to under 40% shooting from the field in a 11-point win. All 5 starters scored in double-figures for Milwaukee, so it was a balanced team effort on both ends that got them the win. Tonight they face a Hawks team that they’ve beaten 10 times in the last 11 games played in Milwaukee and with a 13-5 SU record over their last 18 at home overall, the Bucks are 5 point favorites for a reason. There’s still no Khris Middleton for them though as he recovers from a surgically repaired wrist.
Atlanta Hawks
Just like the Bucks, Atlanta also played last night and won. They beat the Detroit Pistons for the 2nd consecutive game on the road thanks to the duo of Trae Young and Dejounte Murray who had 36 and 26 points respectively. Young also dished out 12 assists as his team scored on 56% of their attempts from the field. The Hawks are now rolling at 4-1 to start the season and it appears that their newly formed backcourt duo is building chemistry really well. It’ll be a big test vs Giannis though, the Hawks have only 6 wins in the last 20 meetings and we all still remember how the Bucks eliminated Atlanta from the postseason a couple of years ago. Similarly to Milwaukee, Atlanta is also missing a sharpshooter in Bogdan Bogdanovic who is out indefinitely as he recovers from a knee injury.
With both teams playing last night there is no clear advantage when it comes to fatigue. The Bucks are playing at a really high level beating teams like Brooklyn and Philadelphia, so their record is far more impressive than Atlanta’s. I’m taking the Bucks to cover at home.

The total has gone under in 12 of their last 16 games and in 12 of 15 vs Eastern Conference opponents. Atlanta has also gone under in 13 of 17 overall and in 6 of 9 on the road dating back to last season. Although Trae Young is scoring at a high level, he is shooting just 34% from the field so far this season. He could have a tough time against an elite defender like Jrue Holiday tonight. Two of the last three regular season meetings between the sides ended in the under cashing, I think we’ll see more of that tonight as both teams could be a bit tired since they are playing on a 2nd night of a back-to-back.
