After back-to-back wins over the Charlotte Hornets, the Miami Heat have alleviated a bit of the pressure that is one them following a slower than anticipated start to the season. Right now they are only 3rd in their division behind Washington and Atlanta, but with a ton more games left to be played there’s still time to right the ship.
They might be a couple players short tonight as Tyler Herro and Victor Oladipo are both questionable here, so others will have to step up. In the win over Charlotte this weekend, Miami had 4 players score at least 20 points, with the high man being Max Strus who dropped 31, including 8 threes. The Heat are 5-4 at home, but what is surprising is that they’ve beaten the Suns only once in the last 5 meetings in Miami.
Phoenix Suns
Phoenix has their own injury problems here, I’d say they are even worse than Miami’s. Chris Paul and Landry Shamet are questionable, while Jae Crowder and Cameron Johnson will not play here. That’s a big blow to their depth which has limited them on both ends over the course of their last 5 games. During that stretch they’ve exchanged wins and losses, and they come into tonight’s game following a 17 point loss against the Orlando Magic.
It was the 2nd time in 3 games they failed to score 100 points, if CP3 isn’t available to play tonight they could once again struggle scoring here. Devin Booker and Deandre Ayton are both healthy, so I expect them to produce here. Phoenix is 4-1 ATS/SU over the past 5 vs Miami, but all those stats go out the window when you have so many injuries.
Both teams are evenly matched, but with Miami playing at home I have to give the edge to them. They’ve finally connected two wins in a row, the Suns won’t have enough depth to put them away here. Take the home team to win.

The projected total has been set relatively low at 217 points, despite the Suns’ recent struggles on offense I think we should see the two teams go over that number. If we look at the 3 most recent games the numbers are down a bit, but Miami has been on fire lately which gives me optimism we could see a high scoring output from both sides here.
