Miami Heat

Miami HeatAfter the win over Atlanta last night, the Heat have now won 7 straight at the FTX Arena and 4 overall. The win was sparked by the return of Jimmy Butler to the line-up who had 23 points and 10 assists. Miami is slowly getting everyone back, the latest reports are suggesting their center Bam Adebayo is also close to making a return after missing almost 2 months with a ligament tear in his finger. He is expected back Monday vs Toronto, which should be a big boost to their ambitions. Even without him this team is doing quite well. They’ve won 9 of their last 11 games and are a perfect 7-0 SU at home, while covering in their last 5 overall. We should also keep an eye on Tyler Herro for this one as he has been on fire coming off the bench lately. He led the scoring with 24 points vs Atlanta last night.

Philadelphia 76ers

Philadelphia 76ers 1Speaking of being on fire, Joel Embiid has been just that for the Philadelphia 76ers. Although he failed to crack the 30-point mark for the first time in 9 games, Embiid still led the scoring with 25 points and 13 rebounds as the Sixers took care of the Boston Celtics 111-99 at home last night. The big man got really good help from Tyrese Maxey who had 23 points, plus Tobias Harris and Seth Curry as both chipped in 17 apiece. Philly has been on a good run for some time now, winning 8 of their last 9 games. They’ve also gone on the road and won 6 straight, including 5 of 6 vs East teams. However, against Miami they are just 2-5 SU in the last 7 and they’ve covered just once in the last 5 meetings.

This has the potential to be the game of the season the way these two teams are playing right now. Both played last night, so fatigue wise they should be equal. The only advantage Philly has is Embiid, but Miami’s defense has been tough all season long so I’m curious if he can break them down. I’m going to side with the home team here, the Heat have just gotten Jimmy Butler back, they’ll be hard to beat.

Miami Heat vs Philadelphia 76ers Predictions & Odds

Miami -2 Point Spread is available at -110 odds on bet365

The total has been set for just 207.5 points here, which does sound a bit low for my taste. Even though the first meeting of the season finished with just 197 points, I think we’ll see a bit of an increase tonight, just because both of them played last night so defenses might be a little bit tired to put pressure all night long. The last 10 meetings have averaged 221.7 points per game, which also works well for our bet and the over has cashed in 6 of the last 10.

The 3 most recent meetings have also averaged 210 points, so if the 2 teams are able to reach just that we’ll be fine here. In the last 5 meetings in Miami the over has cashed 4 times and for the Heat the over has cashed in 7 of their last 8 games, which is very uncharacteristic. Even though these are the 26th and 27th ranked teams in terms of pace, they are both very efficient on offense. Miami averages 110.5 points per 100 possessions, which ranks 5th in the NBA. The Sixers are slightly worse averaging 108.4 which is 10th best in the league. All in all I think we should be backing the over in this one.
