Miami Heat vs Los Angeles Clippers betting tips and predictions for Thursday’s NBA game on NBA TV. The Heat are looking to bounce back from back-to-back losses as they host the Clippers who are also coming off a loss at Orlando. Read on for all our free predictions and betting tips.

Miami Heat

Miami HeatOnce again we learned just how much Jimmy Butler means to this Miami Heat team. Without him in the line-up, they just got beat by 20 points against one of the worst teams in the Eastern Conference the Detroit Pistons. In 10 games without him the Heat are just 4-6 this season, Tuesday’s loss means they are now 2 games back of first placed Atlanta in their division.

Butler’s status is unknown for tonight’s game, he is listed as questionable alongside several other Miami players. They could definitely use him as against the Clippers they’ve failed to cover the spread in 5 games straight, plus against Western Conference opponents they are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall.

Los Angeles Clippers

LA ClippersThe Clippers’ version of Butler is Kawhi Leonard. Despite having him in the line-up at Orlando last night, LA fell short 116-111 in what was already their 6th road loss this season. The road trip continues tonight in Miami, a team which the Clippers have beaten 6 times in the last 7 meetings. Here comes the fun part though – we do not know whether or not Leonard or Paul George will play here as it is a 2nd night of a back-to-back for the Clippers. Facing Eastern Conference opponents has been tough on this team, they are just 3-8 ATS in the last 11 such games. While they do have a solid record against Southeast Division opponents (10 wins in the last 13 games), with such uncertainty surrounding their best players I’m hesitant to give them the edge here.

With both teams being hit hard by the injury bug, tonight’s game could go either way really. If I had to choose without knowing who plays, I’d lean slightly towards the Heat here. They have home court advantage and are already basically used to not having Butler in the line-up. Take Miami to cover.

Miami Heat vs Los Angeles Clippers Predictions & Odds

Scoring and pace of play might be an issue for both sides here. LA is 5th slowest in the league averaging 98.6 possessions per game, while the Heat are only 17th at a flat 100 possessions per game. Both of them rank in the top 10 in defensive efficiency, so we could have a defensive battle on our hands here.

Backing the under has been a popular bet among people following the Clippers this season. They are just 9-17 on the O/U on the season, which is not so surprising given the amount of injuries they’ve faced along the way. Miami is also just 12-12-1 on the O/U, if Butler isn’t able to suit up here that’s an automatic 20 points less than what they usually get. With both teams struggling to score points, I believe backing the under is the best way to approach tonight’s game.
