Miami Heat vs Detroit Pistons betting tips and predictions for Tuesday’s NBA game in South Beach. It’s an all-Eastern Conference affair in Miami tonight as the Heat welcome the struggling Pistons to town. Read on for all our free predictions and betting tips.
Just when we thought the Heat were catching steam they found a way to disappoint us all with a 101-93 loss at Memphis last night. All five starters scored in double-figures, but as a unit they were far from being efficient scoring on just 39% of their field goal attempts.
The good news is Jimmy Butler played another solid game, he’s finally back after a long layoff due to injury, so it’s not uncommon for a team to struggle trying to implement such a key player into a line-up following a injury. Tonight is a good opportunity for Miami to get back to winning ways, they’ve beaten the Pistons 7 times in the last 10 meetings, including 5 of the last 6 played at home. The injury situation has improved a bit, Miami now only has Victor Oladipo and Omer Yurtseven out with injuries.
Interestingly enough, the Pistons also come into tonight’s game following a loss to Memphis, but their game was played at home a couple of days ago. That gives them an extra day of rest, but I’m unsure if that will make any difference here.
Detroit has struggled a lot on the road this season winning just twice in 13 attempts, they are also on a run of covering the spread just once in 8 games vs Eastern Conference opponents. All that is very discouraging here, but not surprising considering their main point guard Cade Cunningham has been out for a while now with a shin injury. His return date still remains unknown, so the Pistons will have to figure things out on the fly here. Bojan Bogdanovic has been the most consistent scoring option, he averages 20.6 points on over 50% shooting from the field.
Covering a 8.5 point spread sounds like a lot, especially for a team that’s only 3-8-1 ATS in 12 games at home this season. The Pistons have been far from convincing away from home, but I’m not sure if the unreliable Heat can beat them by double-digits here. Go with the away team to cover.
Miami Heat vs Detroit Pistons Predictions & Odds
Miami has a habit of going over the total in home games this season – they’ve done so in 8 of 12 games played in South Beach, including the last 6 in a row. Head-to-head meetings between these two have also trended towards the over with 13 of the last 20 games cashing on that bet. The Pistons’ only chance of pulling off the upset here will be to make the Heat uncomfortable by speeding things up.
That worked in their win over Dallas a couple of games ago when they put 131 points past the Mavericks, who play a very similar style like Miami does. Over their last 2 games the Heat have scored 120 and 134 points against an elite defense in Boston, I fully expect them to get back to those numbers tonight, following last night’s poor showing at Memphis. Let’s go with the over in tonight’s game.
