There are still no updates on Ja Morant and his status following the knee injury which has caused him to sit out the last 4 Grizzlies games. Memphis is looking just fine without him though, they are on a 4-game win streak and look like they haven’t missed a beat. Their latest win came at Dallas over the weekend 97-90, Desmond Bane stepped up with 29 points as all 5 starters scored in double figures. The defense was once again on point as they held the Mavericks to just 33% shooting from the field and outrebounded them by 10 boards. Grizzlies are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games, however they haven’t faired well against Miami recently. They lost the 1st head-to-head game of the season on their own court by 26-points, so that could motivate them to get a result here. They have covered just 3 times in the last 9 vs Miami.
Miami Heat
The Heat are also having their own issues with injuries at the moment with two of their best players struggling. Jimmy Butler has missed several games with a tailbone injury and is questionable for tonight’s game, while Bam Adebayo will miss several weeks after having surgery on his thumb. Markieff Morris still hasn’t played after the incident with Nikola Jokic, he is listed as out for this one as well with a neck injury. Unlike Memphis, the Heat are struggling to cope with so many players out of the line-up and they’ve won just once in their last 4 games. Last time out the Milwaukee Bucks beat them by 22 points on the road, but now they return home where they’ve gone 6-3 over their first 9 games of the season.
This is a tough one to predict as both teams have been hampered by injuries, but I’m going to side with the Grizzlies here. They are just playing on another level defensively and just 2 games ago they beat the Thunder by 73 points. Back them to cover against the shorthanded Miami team.

The last 3 Memphis opponents are averaging just 86.7 points per game, which is top of the league easily. Miami also likes to take a lot of pride in defending, they are allowing 102.2 per game at home this season, so I think we could be in for a dogfight in this one. The first meeting of the season did produce 232 points, but the style of play the Grizzlies were playing in that game was way different to today’s, plus Miami was on a roll early in the season and were dropping 120+ on a nightly basis. That has now changed and over their last 3 games they’ve put up just 100 points per game, the 3rd worst mark in the league. Memphis tends to play the under often when on the road, 6 of their last 8 have gone under the total which could be a sign of things to come here. Let’s back the under.
