A lot of bettors were disappointed with the effort of the Memphis Grizzlies in their last game as they lost by 11-points on the road in Houston, despite entering the game as 11-point favorites. Those kind of results are normal for such a young team as they like to run a lot and sometimes scores get out of hands even against lesser teams like the Rockets.
Tonight is a good opportunity to bounce back against an in-form Pelicans side. The last meeting was won by Memphis 121-109 back in mid-February and that was without Ja Morant in the line-up.
The MVP candidate is fully healthy and playing tonight which is a much needed boost for the Grizzlies who are 12-5 ATS in their last 17 games. At home they’ve covered in 6 of 7 games, plus against Western Conference opponents they’ve won 14 of 19 games.
New Orleans Pelicans
The Pelicans were one of the hottest teams coming out of the all-star break with 4 wins in a row by an average of almost 27 points per game, however they ran into a tough Denver team and lost 138-130 after OT in their last game.
Brandon Ingram had 38 points, while newly acquired C.J. McCollum added 24 and 9 assists, but it wasn’t enough as the Nuggets shot 54% from the field in that game. Getting stops will be crucial in tonight’s game, they simply cannot allow the Grizzlies to have a similar shooting night, otherwise they stand no chance.
The good news for Pelicans fans is that they are 8-1 ATS in their last 9 games on the road, plus against Memphis they’ve covered in 7 of their last 8 games. The good news doesn’t end there, Zion Williamson could also return at some point this month which would be huge for a team hoping to make a push towards the postseason.
Pelicans have had the upper hand in head-to-head meetings winning 7 of the last 10 and covering the spread 8 times. It’s normal for teams to cool off a bit after such a long and grueling season, I can see this happening to Memphis a bit as well after their loss to Houston.
