Memphis Grizzlies vs Minnesota Timberwolves betting tips and predictions for Friday’s NBA game on ESPN. With just 1 win in 3 road games this season, the Timberwolves are desperate for a result as they head to Memphis for a clash with the Grizzlies. Read on for all our free predictions and betting tips.

Memphis Grizzlies

Memphis GrizzliesDespite failing to cover as 5-point favorites on the road in San Antonio, Grizzlies fans are happy their team got the win which keeps them atop of the Southwest Division standings. Ja Morant and Desmond Bane each had 32 points in the win, while as a team Memphis shot an impressive 51% from the field and almost 44% from three. A repeat of that performance would almost guarantee a win vs Minnesota tonight, they’ve beaten the Wolves in 7 of the last 8 meetings at FedEx Forum.

They’ll have to do so without Danny Green and Jaren Jackson Jr. though, as they are out with knee and foot injuries respectively. Memphis has had a tough time covering in games vs teams from their own conference, doing so just once in the last 6 such games.

Minnesota Timberwolves

Minnesota TimberwolvesThe Timberwolves have been one of the bigger disappointments with a 5-7 start to their season. Rudy Gobert hasn’t really been the 3-time defensive player of the year we are accustomed to seeing him be, and although Karl-Anthony Towns is producing 21.3 points per game on better than 50% shooting, it just hasn’t translated into wins so far. They’ve dropped 4 of their last 5 games and if things don’t turn around soon they might be looking at a play-in tournament spot instead of a top 4 seed like many people have predicted.

Anthony Edwards was expected to make the next step in his development, but that has not happened yet. He scored only 11 points in his last game vs Phoenix, he is playing better on the road though averaging 24 points per game. Austin Rivers and Naz Reid have been ruled out with an illness, so the T’Wolves will face a tough match-up here.

The Grizzlies are just playing way better team ball right now, while Minnesota is struggling to gel with their new big man Gobert. With 7 wins in the last 8 meetings at FedEx Forum, I think Memphis gets the job done once again here. Back them to cover.

Memphis Grizzlies vs Minnesota Timberwolves Predictions & Odds

These two teams are one of the most gifted offenses we have in the NBA this season, but only one of them has lived up to expectations in the first couple of weeks of the new season. The Grizzlies currently rank 7th in offensive efficiency scoring 111.9 points per 100 possessions, the Timberwolves are only 19th at 108.2, but judging from the recent head-to-head meetings I think we could be in for a slightly lower scoring game. The last 10 meetings have averaged 227.6 points per game, while in the 3 most recent that number is down to 225.6 per game.

The total is 1-2 on the O/U in those 3 games, and with Minnesota going under in 10 of 14, including 5 of 5 on the road I think that should be our bet here. Memphis has also cashed on the under 4 times in their last 6 and is 2-2-1 on the O/U in home games this season. Let’s go with the under.
