After more than 900 days of sitting out due to 2 serious injuries, Klay Thompson finally returned on Sunday as the Warriors beat the Cavaliers 96-82 in the Bay. Despite a somewhat slower start to the game, Klay got back on track fairly quickly and finished the game with 17 points on 7-for-18 shooting. Stephen Curry once again led the way with 28 points. Interestingly enough Draymond Green was supposed to sit out the game due to a calf injury, but started just to be there for his teammate and immediately went out after a few seconds. He will not play tonight in Memphis according to latest reports, so the Warriors are a bit shorthanded on the defensive end. In head-to-head meetings with Memphis they are only 4-6 SU/ATS in the last 10 games, so tonight’s game will be a big test for them.
Memphis Grizzlies
The Grizzlies are the hottest team in the NBA right now with 9 wins in a row and 14 in their last 17 games. Ja Morant is playing at a superstar level and is destined to make his first All-Star game this season. Memphis currently holds 4th spot in the West which would guarantee them home court advantage in the playoffs, however they have a pretty tough schedule coming up in the next couple of weeks so it’ll be interesting to see their position mid-February. Dillon Brooks is expected to miss yet another game with an ankle injury, while Steven Adams is still in quarantine, but could make a comeback any game now.
Not having Draymond in the game vs Cleveland didn’t hurt the Warriors, but that game was different as the whole crowd was into it and basically pushed the team to win that game.
