Anthony Davis was all over the place offensively scoring 39 points and collecting 8 rebounds. Everyone in the starting line-up scored in double-figures, more than making up for the absences of LeBron James and D’Angelo Russell.
Speaking of Russell, his status has been upgraded to questionable which means we could see him return to the line-up following his ankle sprain. LA could definitely use some extra playmaking right now, Dennis Schroder has been keeping them afloat, but he too is bothered by a minor ankle injury. Playing a Ja Morant-less Grizzlies side is just what this team needs, as the Grizzlies have just 1 victory in their last 11 road games.

When Morant is returning to the line-up is the main question surrounding the Grizzlies at the moment. Even the police have now gotten involved after his latest incident which could, according to some reports, lead to a suspension as long as 50 games. Only time will tell how that story unfolds, but one thing is for sure the Grizzlies aren’t going anywhere without their best player.
In 10 games without him this season they have only 4 wins, and with a somewhat tough schedule the rest of the way that record will only get worse in my opinion. Memphis did have the edge in the game played vs the Lakers a week ago, but that game was played at FedEx Forum and Morant erupted for 39 points. Circumstances have changed since, optimism won’t be high ahead of tonight’s games in the Grizzlies’ ranks.

I really though the Grizzlies would struggle scoring the basketball in their last game against the Clippers, but boy was I wrong. They had one of their best quarters in franchise history in that game, scoring 51 points in the 3rd en route to 129 total. Desmond Bane had 30, while Tyus Jones and Jaren Jackson Jr. chipped in with 25 and 24. So even without Morant I think we can expect a solid scoring output here.
The first 2 meetings of the season ended with 243 and 230 points, we could see the Lakers push the pace in this game, especially if Russell is back which would also improve their three-point shooting. Memphis drained 18 threes in their last game, which was their 3rd in a row with at least 11 threes. The Lakers have also steadily improved from distance, scoring double digit threes in 7 of 8 games. In a game where we have the 3rd and 4th fastest teams in the league, I think backing the over is the smart way to go.
