LeBron and co. are in a lot of trouble at the moment after their embarrassing 123-95 home loss at home against the New Orleans Pelicans. In the loss James had 32 points and 6 rebounds, however only Russell Westbrook and Carmelo Anthony had 16 and 13, while the rest of the team finished in single-digits scoring.
As a unit the Lakers converted on just 41.7% of their shots and after the game we saw several videos on social media of players talking trash back to the fans, which isn’t a good look for a historic franchise like the Lakers.
One thing that gives optimism to the players and fans ahead of tonight’s game is the fact that they’ve beaten the Mavericks once this season 107-104 on the road, however Dallas did not have their best player Luka Doncic in that game.

The last time Doncic suited up against the Lakers was back in April of 2021 and the Mavs won fairly easily 108-93 with Doncic scoring 18 points, grabbing 8 boards and dishing out 13 assists. He will look to repeat that performance tonight for a Dallas team that is on a run of 7 wins in their last 9 games.
They’ve also covered the spread in 8 of their last 9 and the most impressive win during that stretch was against the Warriors a couple of days ago where they came back from 21 points down in the 3rd quarter to win by 6 in the end.
Doncic had 34 in the win, I just don’t see how the Lakers match-up with him tonight. On the road the Mavericks are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games, interestingly enough they do have only 3 wins in the last 13 meetings with the Lakers, but they enter tonight’s game as 5 point favorites.
It’s hard to imagine any other outcome in this game other than a Mavericks win. I’d argue no other team is in such disarray as the Lakers are currently. LeBron James is also listed as questionable with a knee problem, so even if he plays he won’t be at 100%. I’m going with the road team.

On the road the Mavs allow just 105.6 points per game, only 4 teams in the entire NBA are better than that. In those 3 games the average amount of points scored was 212.3 per game and with Dallas going under in 6 of their last 9 overall and in 6 of 8 against Western Conference teams I think we can expect a slower paced game here.
