The big news following the break coming outside of LA is the Clippers acquiring now former Lakers guard Russell Westbrook. The point-guard joins an already stacked team, filling in the gap left behind the departure of Reggie Jackson who went to Denver. In what capacity will Russ help the Clippers remains to be seen, but one thing is for sure this is now one of the deepest teams in the NBA and if their starting 5 can remain healthy they will be a force in the playoffs.
At the moment they only have one injury worry and that is their starting center Ivica Zubac who will miss tonight’s game with a calf injury. LA has gone 10-4 SU in their last 14 games, they’ve also covered the spread 9 times in their last 13 overall, and after getting blown out by the Kings in the last meeting in this building they will be motivated to get revenge.
Sacramento Kings
Sacramento played last night and beat the Portland Trail Blazers fairly easily 133-116 as the visitors were without several key players including Damian Lillard. The two all-stars De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis did their part with 31 and 18 points respectively. Sabonis also had 18 rebounds and 10 assists for his 7th triple-double of the season.
A lot is expected out of those two tonight, especially Sabonis if Zubac is unable to play. The Kings have had a solid record against the Clippers lately covering the spread in 5 of the last 7 meetings, they head into tonight’s game as 7.5 point underdogs which sounds like a lot considering they are ahead of them in the West rankings. Unlike LA, they have a clean slate in terms of injuries, which is a rarity in today’s NBA.
The 7 day break didn’t bother the Kings too much, they drained a total of 14 threes in last night’s win and with a game under their belt they are in much better shape than the Clippers are right now. However, playing the Clippers will be a much bigger challenge tonight as LA ranks 13th in defensive efficiency. I would also argue Kawhi and PG13 are one of the best 2-way players in the league and having both of them on the same team is a luxury for the Clippers.

Bettors have made a ton of money on Clipper home games this season when backing the under, their record stands at 6-21-1 on the O/U when playing there.
