The win over Houston was a much needed one for the Clippers who had just 1 win in 7 games prior to that one. Now they’re on a 2-1 SU run over their last 3 games, which gives them hope of turning things around after a slower than anticipated start to 2023. After being a shell of his old self for most of the season due to injury, Kawhi Leonard is finally playing like the player we’re accustomed to seeing. His knee is no longer bothering him, over the last 8 games he’s averaging 23.4 points, while in the win over Houston he dropped 30 points.
LA will need a similar performance tonight as they have a couple of really important players missing due to injuries. Paul George, Luke Kennard and John Wall are the most notable absences, while Marcus Morris should return after missing the game against the Rockets. Clippers are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 home games vs Philly, so the odds are stacked against them in tonight’s game.
Philadelphia 76ers
The last 2 Sixers games have been decided by just 1 point, but the good news is for Doc Rivers and his men both of the wins went Philly’s way. They’ve now solidified 4th place in the East standings and with the injuries to Kevin Durant and Giannis Antetokounmpo they have a pretty solid chance of gaining ground on the Nets and Bucks who are in front of them.
Philly has done well in head-to-head meetings winning 8 of the last 11 vs LA, they’ve also covered the spread in 11 of 14 against them, winning the 1st match-up of the season 119-114. There are no injuries to report from the Philadelphia side of things here, which is a rare sight these days in the NBA. Philly has gone on to win 8 of 10 games vs West coast teams, they are a real force to be reckoned with these days.
As much as I like hearing about the Kawhi Leonard resurrection, the Sixers should be taking care of business here. Ivica Zubac is a nice center, but he is no match for Joel Embiid. With injuries to PG and a few other important players, the Clippers just won’t have enough to hand with the Sixers here. Take the road team.

It will be a battle of contrasting styles here. The 76ers are 12-7 on the O/U in road games, while the Clippers are 3-19-1 when playing at home. At 226 points, the projected total is way below the 233 points we saw in the meeting in Philadelphia. Both teams were in much better shape in that game injury wise, especially the Clippers, so I’m looking for a bit more intensity on the defensive end from both sides here.
Philly was just able to hold the high paced Lakers to just 112 points, while the Clippers did the same against the young and high flying Rockets holding them to just 100 over the weekend. The 3 most recent meetings have averaged only 218.3 points and when you have two teams which both rank in the top 10 in defensive efficiency, I would be surprised if we went over that number tonight.
