Los Angeles Clippers
Optimism is back among the Clippers ranks after consecutive wins over the Wizards and Celtics in their last 2 games. More importantly though, both Kawhi Leonard and Paul George are playing consistently which gives the Clippers fans reasons to be optimistic going forward.
The dynamic duo combined for 51 points in the win over Boston, with Leonard playing his best game since coming back from injury scoring 25 points on just 12 shot attempts. If he is able to stay healthy and improve on a nightly basis, the Clippers will be a force in the Western Conference. They are doing all this without another 15+ point per game scorer in Norman Powell, who continues to sit out games due to a groin injury. Having covered the spread 5 times in the last 6 meetings, they enter tonight’s game with high hopes.
Minnesota has been hit by the injury bug pretty hard with Karl-Anthony Towns missing extended time with a calf injury. D’Angelo Russell is also questionable with a knee issue, while a couple of rotation players in Taurean Prince and Jordan McLaughlin are both also out.
They are coming off back-to-back road losses at Portland, a place where they don’t win often and tonight’s match-up with the Clippers also promises to be a tough one as they’ve lost 6 of the last 9 meetings with LA. The biggest thing that has hurt these Timberwolves is their record vs teams from their own conference, they’ve won just 2 of 8 such games lately, which hurts their playoff chances significantly.
LA has 4 wins in their last 5 home games played on a Wednesday, they are in significantly better shape health wise than the Timberwolves. I’m expecting them to get off to a quick start here, without KAT Minnesota won’t stand much of a chance here. Take LA to cover.
Los Angeles Clippers vs Minnesota Timberwolves Predictions & Odds
The Timberwolves defense hasn’t shown any encouraging signs over their last 5 games with teams scoring 133, 124, 108, 115 and 135 points against them. Getting 3-time defensive player of the year Rudy Gobert hasn’t resulted in as many improvements as they hoped it would on that end, and now against a offensive efficient team like the Clippers they could be in trouble once again. LA does play a slower than usual pace, but their last 4 of 5 games overall have all cashed on the over.
The last 12 of 18 games vs Minnesota have all gone over the total as well, so judging by that we can expect a free flowing offensive game from both teams here. Right now Minnesota is averaging 104.9 possessions per game, they lead the league in pace of play. So if they decide to run with the Clippers here, that would really bode well for our bet. I’m taking the points.
