Los Angeles Clippers
The Clippers put up a solid fight in their last game vs Dallas as they rallied back from being 25 points down, but in the end Luka Doncic drained a game winning three-pointer which sealed the deal. LA was once again without Kawhi Leonard, his status is still unknown.
To make matters even worse, now Paul George is also questionable with a hand problem, while Luke Kennard is also doubtful with a calf issue which forced him out of the Dallas game early. The Clippers record of 9 wins in 11 games against the Pistons is in jeopardy here, this team just can’t seem to get on the right track and get rid of the injury bug. They have a 3-4 record at home so far this season, so I’m not really sure why they are 9-point favorites in this one.
The Pistons are just 3-12 after 15 games and 0-7 on the road, together with the Golden State Warriors they are the only two remaining teams without a road win yet. The play of Bojan Bogdanovic has been a highlight, the sharpshooter from Croatia is averaging 20.1 points per game on 50% shooting, but rumor has it the Pistons will try to trade him as soon as possible with several teams lining up to get him.
The focus of this team is clearly on developing the younger players and getting a high pick in next year’s Draft. Not having Cade Cunningham around the team certainly helps the latter, he is currently out with a shin injury and it’s unknown when he is coming back. Joining him on the sidelines could be Cory Joseph and Isaiah Stewart.
Even though they are without their main point-guard, I feel like the Pistons can keep this game close. Their last 3 losses were by 4, 9 and 9 points, so they are capable of covering even when they are huge underdogs. Give me the road team to cover against the unconvincing Clippers here.
Los Angeles Clippers vs Detroit Pistons Predictions & Odds
Pistons games have been fruitful when it comes to backing the over this season with 9 of 15 cashing on that bet. If we go back to last season 13 of their last 19 games have all cashed on the over, so even against the slow paced Clippers I think we can expect a free flowing offensive game from both teams. LA normally trends towards the under, but against teams from the Eastern Conference, they are 4-1 on the O/U in their last 5 games. The play of Marcus Morris Sr. and Reggie Jackson has been encouraging lately, so even if Paul George sits this one out they should have plenty of scoring options to deal with the Pistons. Detroit is dead last in defensive efficiency, so even the 28th ranked offense the Clippers have should finally improve their stats a bit in this game. The two teams have averaged 211.7 points per game in the last 10 meetings, I think we go slightly over that tonight so let’s back the over.
