New Orleans has already beaten the Clippers once this season. It finished 94-81 in the game played in New Orleans 10 days ago. Neither side shot the ball that well in that game, but the Pelicans were able to win the defensive battle by holding the Clipps to just 37% shooting from the field. At the time it was only the 3rd win of the season for the Pelicans, since then they’ve won 2 more games against respectable opponents Washington and Utah. All eyes are on Zion Williamson and his status as the team has finally cleared him to play, so it’ll be interesting to see when he comes back. Tonight is probably not going to be the night, which is a shame as the Pelicans could really use him against a team they’ve beaten just 3 times in their last 14 road games.
Los Angeles Clippers
The Clippers definitely haven’t forgotten the 13-point loss at New Orleans and the dreadful offensive performance they showed in that game. Since that game they’ve exchanged wins and losses and are coming off a 15-point home loss against the Golden State Warriors last night. They wasted another 30-point from Paul George and have now fallen to just 11-9 on the season, good enough for just 5th place in the West. This team is still without Nicolas Batum who has been out since the game against the Pelicans. Aside from that, they are fairly healthy, but that hasn’t helped them this season against Western Conference teams as they’ve covered just once in 5 such games.
Pelicans did shock the world with that win at Utah, however they were quickly brought back down to Earth the following night. They are shown improvements lately, but LA is the better team here and I expect them to win. However, I don’t see a blowout here, so backing the Pelicans and the extra points is the way to go in my opinion.
