First and foremost the Mavericks are hoping to get Luka Doncic back for tonight’s game. He has missed the last two games with a ankle and knee issue, but the injury report has him listed as ‘day-to-day’ ahead of tonight’s game. Without him, the Mavs looked fairly mediocre in the two games against the Suns which they lost by 7 and 8 points. They were able to cover the spread in both of those games, however with the 2 losses they are now only 4th in the Western Conference. Mavs fans will be happy though, because Kristaps Porzingis continue playing at a high level with two more 20-point performances. His form will be key to the outcome of their season, if he continues playing well they’ll be within a chance of making the Western Conference finals. Dallas has covered in 5 of their last 6 games and they are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 visits to Staples Center vs the Clippers.
Los Angeles Clippers
LA is on a mini drought of their own after two consecutive away losses against Memphis and New Orleans. The loss to the Pelicans was an ugly one as LA managed only 81 points against a team that was 2-14 prior to the game against them. Paul George had an off night with just 19 points on 8-for-26 shooting, point guard Reggie Jackson also struggled with just 4 points and went 2-for-11 from the field. With Kawhi Leonard already being out, the Clippers need their top two guys to play well every single night if they want to stand a chance of winning. They return home tonight which should do them well. At Staples Center they were able to win 6 of their last 7 games and for the season they are 7-3 at the soon to be renamed arena.
It all comes down to the availability of Luka Doncic here. If he suits up the Mavs will be in decent shape. If not, then their weaknesses will be exposed just like they were against the Suns in the last two games. LA does hold a slight edge in head-to-head meetings by winning 2 of the last 3, so I’m going to side with them in this one. Clippers to cover.

That will go down even further if Doncic isn’t able to play, so I would lean towards the under here.
