Nets fans couldn’t have imagined a better Christmas present than the one they got prior to the game vs the Lakers. James Harden was cleared from the health and safety protocols and returned with a big performance scoring 36 points, grabbing 10 boards and dishing 10 assists in the 122-115 win. Patty Mills also came up big in the win with 34 points, including 8 threes scored as the Nets won yet again without Kevin Durant. KD is still in quarantine and most likely will not play tonight either, but judging how this team has played lately they might not need him. Brooklyn has performed against the spread far better on the road than at home. They’ve covered in 9 of 15 away from home and against the Clippers they are 5-1 ATS in the last 6 games overall.
Los Angeles Clippers
The news of Paul George suffering a ligament injury in his elbow was a big blow to the ambitions of the Clippers. They’ve now dropped 4 of their last 5, including last night’s home games against the Nuggets 103-100. This team is only mediocre when both George and Kawhi Leonard are out, last night’s game was proof of that. Five players did score in double figures, but without a star player on the floor leading them like George normally does, they don’t have anyone to close games for them. They could get a couple of important players back. Marcus Morris Sr. and Reggie Jackson have both been upgraded to questionable, getting those 2 players back would be of huge help to this team that’s really struggling right now.
The Nets are without their best player, when you have the luxury of having a former MVP as your 2nd best player, you’re going to be fine most of the nights in the NBA. Harden notched a triple-double in his last game, I’m expecting a similar performance as I don’t see anyone on this LA team capable of slowing him down. These are the 7th and 11th fastest paced teams in the NBA this season so I think going with the over in this one is the smart bet here.
