There just seems to be no end in sight for the Indiana Pacers woes as they continue playing without their point guard Tyrese Haliburton. They were able to end a 7-game losing streak with a win over the Bulls, but since then they’ve dropped their next 3 games and things just aren’t looking good at the moment for them.
Bennedict Mathurin, Buddy Hield and Myles Turner are doing what they can, but it just isn’t enough against most teams in the NBA. Despite just 1 win in 11 games, the Pacers are only 1.5 point underdogs here which is a big confusing. They did beat the Lakers 116-115 earlier in the season, but they had Haliburton in that game, while Lebron James struggled for the Lakers. Indiana has lost 5 in a row vs Western Conference opponents.
Los Angeles Lakers
Lebron will be hoping to redeem himself for that poor performance vs Indiana in late November. He just had a triple-double for his Lakers in the win at Madison Square Garden over the Knicks. All eyes are on King James as he inches closer to breaking the all-time scoring record held by Kareem Abdul Jabbar for over 36 years.
That probably won’t happen in tonight’s game as he needs 89 points, but the Lakers can certainly count on a big performance from their best player as he’s averaging 34.4 points per game over his last 9 outings. Having AD by his side will certainly be beneficial, the Lakers have covered in 6 of 8 road games, they could also get Patrick Beverly back for this one after a minor knee issue.
I’m expecting the Lakers to go on a run following their win in New York. They are better at almost every position here, plus Indiana without Haliburton is a sub-500 team, so they should really be winning games like this. Take LA on the road.
Indiana Pacers vs Los Angeles Lakers Predictions & Odds
A total of 231 points were scored in the first meeting of the season, these are the 3rd and 8th fastest teams in terms of pace this season so another high tempo game could be on the cards here. That’s been the style of play for the Lakers all season long, especially on the road where they are 16-11 on the O/U. Despite not having Haliburton, the Pacers are still scoring in bunches, but their defense is their real issue.
They just allowed 141 and 126 points in 2 of their last 3 games, that’s not something you want to hear when facing a team like the Lakers. LA has dropped 120+ in 2 of 3 games, and with the Pacers allowing 38.9% of opponent threes in their last 3 games I could see them doing it again tonight. Indiana has also allowed 60 points per game in the paint over their last 3 games, that’s the 4th worst mark in the league. I expect the Lakers to take full advantage of all those flaws tonight which should lead to a high scoring game. Take the over.
