Philadelphia 76ers

Getting back Tobias Harris is a welcome sight for Philadelphia 76ers fans, as the team has been decimated with various injuries in the last two weeks or so. Joel Embiid remains out, Ben Simmons still isn’t back with the team and Matisse Thybulle still hasn’t cleared the health and safety protocols. Without all those players the Sixers dropped their last 3 games and are now just 4th in the Eastern Conference. They haven’t had much luck in recent games against Indiana having covered just twice in their last 7 games against them.

Indiana Pacers

The Indiana Pacers have been an enigma of sorts lately. They went into Sacramento to deal the Kings a 3-point loss, then when everyone expected them to beat the Jokic-less Nuggets they lost by 3 points and two nights ago they went into Salt Lake City and beat the Utah Jazz who were at full strength by 11 points. Malcolm Brogdon showed off with 30 points, while T.J. McConnell added 21 off the bench for only the 5th win in 13 tries this season. This team has exchanged wins in their last 5 contests, but bettors have enjoyed backing them against the spread in home games as they’ve gone 9-2 over their last 11.

Even with Harris back into the mix, Philadelphia is still missing their best player and a couple of role guys that would make the difference here. Indy is doing a lot better on the health side of things and although they’ve disappointed us a couple of times lately, I think they’ll be the superior team here in front of their own fans. Give me Indiana to cover.

For some reason Indiana loves to play teams that pride themselves on defense – they average 3 points more per possessions that what is expected from them against those type of teams. They will look to exploit the absence of Joel Embiid and attack the paint all night long. Players like Brogdon and Myles Turner have been in fine form lately, I can see both of those having solid nights here. The Sixers are giving up 112 points in their last 3 games without Embiid. I’ve also noticed they’ve sped up their pace of play significantly without him, as good as Drummond might be they don’t really have anyone on the inside to go to for scoring right now. The total has trended towards the over in their last 5 games by going 3-1-1. Two of three meetings between these two have also gone over the total last season with an average of 223.3 points being scored in those 3 games. I think we’re in for a high paced game here, so let’s back the over.
