Once again the Lakers showed just how just much they miss LeBron James as they dropped yet another game, this team against the Knicks 106-100 on Tuesday night. Losing by just 6 points was actually positive for LA, as they were down by as many as 25 at one point during the game, but managed to mount a comeback. In the end though, they still fell short despite Russell Westbrook’s triple-double of 31 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists. Anthony Davis also played well and added 20, while Carmelo Anthony had 12 on his return to MSG. With a healthy LeBron back in the line-up, I’m expecting the Lakers to make a run for it in the coming month or so. They are only 9-10 on the season right now and have covered the spread just once in their last 5 games. It won’t be easy though, against Indiana they are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 visits.
Indiana Pacers
The Pacers have been solid lately with 2 wins in a row over the Pelicans and Bulls. At home they’ve gone 5-2 in 7 games played and in their last 12 games they’ve covered the spread a total of 8 times. Injuries have played a huge part in their success this season, right now they are as healthy as they’ve been all year long. In the win over the Bulls all 5 starters scored in double figures, led by Domantas Sabonis who had 21 points and 11 rebounds. None of the starters played more than 29 minutes in the win as the game was pretty much over by half-time when the Pacers built a 21 point lead. Holding the high scoring Bulls to just 77 points was impressive, but Indy still has to find consistency on that end of the floor if they want to make the playoffs this season.
With 4 losses in their last 5 games, the Lakers have to start winning and now. LeBron coming back definitely makes them a lot better, however until they get on a roll I’m having a hard time trusting them to win games vs teams they’ve struggled against. Indy is 11-2 ATS in their last 13 home games and they’ve beaten their last two opponents by 32 and 17 points. Give me the Pacers to cover.

We finally got a lower scoring game from the Lakers last night as they finished their game against the Knicks with just 206 points scored. That was really refreshing to see as 6 of their last 9 games have gone over the total. It all comes down to defense for this team, if they put in the effort they are able to stop teams, but that hasn’t been the case in most of their road games this year. They are allowing 117.3 points per game away from home, which is the worst mark in the NBA. Indiana has the 15th best offensive rating in the league right now, 9 spots better than the Lakers numbers. In their last 3 meetings these two teams have averaged 223 points between them and the over has landed twice.
