Atlanta Hawks

Atlanta Hawks

Scoring just 90 points against the Knicks was a big letdown for Atlanta, especially on their own floor where they have been dominant this season. They lost the game by 9 points in the end and will have to move on quickly as they face another Eastern Conference rival tonight. The Hawks wasted a 33-point night from Trae Young, as a team they shot only 35% from the field and made only 9 of 37 shots from deep. Their road form has been concerning all season long, they enter tonight’s game with just 3 wins in 11 games away from State Farm Arena. There have been some injury concerns as well ahead of tonight’s game as Bogdan Bogdanovic and Cam Reddish are both questionable with ankle and wrist injuries. Deandre Hunter will be out for a while with a wrist injury. Hawks are 6-2 ATS over their last 8 games, however they are currently on a 7-game losing streak in road games vs Indy.

Indiana Pacers

Indiana PacersThe Pacers haven’t been playing well over their last 4 games, winning just one of them. They are coming off back-to-back defeats against the Bucks and Timberwolves and scoring has once again become an issue as they finished those two games with 100 and 98 points total. Against the Timberwolves they scored on just 39% of their field goals, Malcolm Brogdon was the point leader with 25 and 6 boards. Just like the Hawks they also have injury problems at the moment. Justin Holiday has been ruled out with covid-19 indefinitely, while Myles Turner is questionable with an illness. Both are very important players in the rotation of Rick Carlisle, if they are unable to go the Pacers will be heavily shorthanded. Their home form has been encouraging, they’ve won 6 of 10 games at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, but in games against the Eastern Conference they have just 5 wins in their last 16.

For some odd reason the Pacers don’t really play well on Wednesdays, they’ve covered the spread just one time in their last 8 games played on that day. Atlanta has been on a roll before that defeat vs New York, I think they bounce back here and beat the shorthanded Pacers. Hawks to cover.

Atlanta +1.5 Point Spread is available at -110 odds on bet365

Games between the Hawks and Pacers have been high scoring most of the time over the past couple of seasons. In total 7 of the last 10 meetings have all gone over and the two teams are averaging 231.8 points per game during that stretch. The 3 most recent games are 3-0 on the O/U with a whopping 247.6 points per game scored between those two teams. Indiana’s style of play also favors the over this season. They like to push the tempo quite a lot there and aren’t really good at defending the basket. As a result 4 of their last 5 games at home have all gone over the total and interestingly enough 10 of their last 11 vs teams from the Southeast Division have all cashed on the over. With the Hawks giving up 111.8 points per game on the road this season, they are one of the worst teams in that department in the entire NBA. Indiana should take advantage of that, so I’m expecting the total to go over in this one.
