The Blazers are desperate for a road win, they are 0-6 right now after their latest 119-109 setback against the Phoenix Suns. It was their 5th loss in their last 7 overall, so facing a team like the Houston Rockets could do them well at this point in the season. Damian Lillard’s form keeps going up, which is good, but as a team the Blazers aren’t even close to the one we saw last season. If things don’t improve rapidly I think we will see them make drastic changes to their roster before the deadline. Houston Rockets
Losing to the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday wasn’t a good look for the Rockets as they now own the 2nd worst record in the NBA at 1-10, behind them are only the New Orleans Pelicans. There were some positives in that game, rookie guard Jalen Green had 23 points which will definitely benefit his development in the long run. Tonight though he faces a far more experience backcourt in Lillard and McCollum, something tells me he won’t come even close to that total. Despite the poor record Houston has been in some really close games this season, in fact they have covered the spread in 5 of their 11 games.
One record is going to have to end tonight – either Portland’s 0-6 start on the road this season or Houston’s 9-game losing streak. Going purely on experience and basketball knowledge the Blazers should be winning here, plus the Rockets have no incentive to win as they are just trying to develop their young core and get a high draft pick.
