Golden State Warriors
With 3 wins over their last 4 games the defending champions are slowly picking up the pace as they look to crack into the top 6 in the Western Conference. Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson were limited to just 40 points combined in the win over the Clippers in their last game, but Andrew Wiggins had himself a night with 31 on 12-for-18 from the field.
It was the Warriors’ 7th home win in a row, they have a very favorable match-up coming their way tonight against a Jazz team they’ve beaten 4 times in the last 5 at Chase Center. Aside from Andre Iguodala who is still out with a hip injury, the champs are healthy and well rested ahead of tonight’s game.
Utah Jazz
Utah is in a much worse situation injury wise with their main point guard Mike Conley still out, joining Rudy Gay on the sidelines who will also miss tonight’s game. Not having Conley has resulted in 2 losses in a row, against a shorthanded Clippers team and one of the worst Eastern Conference teams the Detroit Pistons. Lauri Markkanen is trying his best to lead the Jazz without Conley, but he alone isn’t able to do it. The biggest issue this team has had in those loses is their defense as they allowed over 120 points in both games. An offensive juggernaut like the Warriors will be tough to handle, so I’m not really sure if I fancy their chances here.
Golden State at home and Golden State on the road are two very different teams. If they can blow out the Nuggets by 17 at home, I’m sure they can beat Utah by at least 8 points here. Give me Steph and co. to cover at home.
Los Angeles Clippers vs Denver Nuggets Predictions & Odds
The projected total has been set very high tonight at 237.5 points, which is understandable considering the last 4 of 5 Jazz games have cleared that line. However, I don’t think the Warriors will allow a ton of points playing at home here, their last 2 opponents at Chase Center have managed just 107 and 101 points.
Golden State has the 3rd best defensive rating in home games this season, it’s a challenge for much better offensive teams than the Jazz to score on them. Looking at head-to-head meetings between the two teams we can notice just 210 points per game being scored in the 3 most recent meetings and the under cashing in all 3 of them. That number jumps up to 222.6 per game in the last 10 meetings, which is still almost 15 points under tonight’s projected total. I’m going under in this one.
