Golden State Warriors

Golden State WarriorsGolden State leads the regular-season series 2-1 at the moment against the Suns after winning the previous 2 meetings. The last time these two met at Chase Center it was all Warriors as they came out on top 118-96, however, circumstances have changed drastically since. There’s no Stephen Curry for the Warriors and they are struggling right now. In their last game at Memphis, they managed to score only 95 points, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green both missed that game, but they should be ready to go tonight.

They have a pretty good home record against Phoenix with 17 wins in 19 games, however, Golden State’s recent form is concerning if you are a fan of theirs. They’ve won just 1 of 6 games and covered the spread only once during that stretch.

Phoenix Suns

Phoenix SunsThe Suns became the first team to win 60 games this season and clinched home-court advantage throughout the playoffs, but this team isn’t showing any signs of slowing down even despite that. Chris Paul returned from injury and looks like he hasn’t missed a beat. Devin Booker has also been spectacular, he’s coming off a 35-point performance against Philadelphia in a 10-point home win. That was the Sun’s 8th win in a row which is the longest current win streak in the NBA.

This team is also 7-0 SU in their last 7 on the road and they’ve covered the spread in 7 of 8 games overall. They too have a couple of injuries to their roster, but nothing major. JaVale McGee is out with an illness, while Cam Johnson is doubtful with a quad injury. Against the Warriors they’ve won just 6 of 20 meetings, knowing the mentality of this team they will try and improve on that record, even if tonight’s game is meaningless in terms of the standings.

Covering as 6-point favourites at Chase Center is a tough ask, but this Suns team isn’t taking its foot off the gas pedal just yet. The Warriors are really bad right now, they’ve lost 3 in a row by an average of 15.6 points per game. Take the road team in this one.

Golden State Warriors vs Phoenix Suns Predictions & Odds

This Warriors squad is incapable of defending at the moment. Their last 3 opponents – the Grizzlies, Wizards and Hawks all scored over 120 points against them, I think we can all agree that the Suns are a much better team on that end of the floor than either of those three teams. Over their last 5 games, the Suns are averaging 127 points per game and they’ve faced some really tough opponents like the Sixers, Nuggets, Timberwolves and Bulls.

Their last 7 of 9 games have all gone over the total, including their last 6 in a row against Western Conference opponents. Tonight’s projected total of 224.5 points seems a bit unreasonable as 2 of the 3 meetings played this season finished way below that, including the game played at Chase Center. Phoenix currently ranks 3rd in defensive efficiency, while the Warriors are in 2nd place, so I think the two teams will resort to their defence to get the win here. Without Steph, the Warriors are very limited on offence, so it could be another long night for them here. Let’s go with the under.
