When the schedule came out, this was one of the games most NBA fans circled on their calendars as a must watch, but with the way the season has played out so far we are getting a match-up between two teams that aren’t even above .500 at the moment. The Warriors are coming off back-to-back losses against sub-par Eastern Conference opponents in Detroit and Orlando. Steve Kerr’s men were 6.5 point favorites in both of those games, but they ended up losing by 3 and 14 points. Everyone is waiting on the return of Stephen Curry, who has been out for over a month now. Golden State is just 6-8 without their superstar, he is expected back some time during mid-January. Before that, the Warriors have a game against the Suns tonight, a team they’ve lost to 6 times in the last 10 meetings.
Phoenix Suns
Phoenix is also in a bad spot here, with Chris Paul, Devin Booker, Cam Payne and Cameron Johnson all missing tonight’s game. Deandre Ayton is also questionable with an ankle injury, he is the team’s only hope ahead of tonight’s game. The Suns are just 1-5 SU in their last 6 games, this current losing streak has seen them fall all the way down to 8th place in the West standings and they are in danger of missing out on the postseason if things don’t improve rapidly soon. They did beat the Warriors in both meetings so far this season, but tonight’s game will be nothing like those two in which they scored 134 and 130 points respectively. Over their last 6 games they’ve covered the spread just once, they enter tonight’s game as 9.5 point underdogs.
I have to go with the Warriors here. They still have players like Jordan Poole, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green and Andrew Wiggins available and playing. The Suns are just falling apart and there’s no end in sight. Golden State to win convincingly here.
