Golden State Warriors
The Warriors are actually looking for revenge here as they’ve lost the first meeting of the season 118-106 in Philadelphia, back in mid-December. That was to be expected as this team really tends to struggle on the road, tonight they return to Chase Center following impressive wins over Houston and Dallas.
They’re 29-7 SU in this building, and although the injury situation isn’t all that good they’re still 2.5 favorites against Philly. They’ve dominated this match-up at home winning 8 of the last 10 meetings. The odds are on their side because they’ve been able to cover the spread in 8 straight at Chase Center, so it’ll be up to the 76ers to disrupt that.
Philadelphia 76ers
Are they capable of pulling off the upset here? I’m not so sure, especially since Joel Embiid left the last game with a minor calf tweak. He’s questionable for tonight’s game, as is James Harden who is nursing an achilles injury. The hopes of the entire city of Philadelphia lie in the hands of those two players, so I think there’s a decent chance they might not even play here as head coach Doc Rivers tries to preserve their health.
Philly is 5-0 ATS in their last 5 on the road, 9-1 SU in their last 10 overall and 11-5 ATS in their last 16 vs the Warriors. However, they’ve got just 5 wins in the last 19 head-to-head against Golden State, with Embiid likely not playing here I’m not sure what to make of their chances.
Curry and the Warriors are among the most dominant home teams in the league this season, pressure is on them to keep winning if they want to wrap up the 6th seed in the West. I think this is an ideal game for them to win their 3rd straight, back the Warriors.
Golden State Warriors vs Philadelphia 76ers Predictions & Odds
No Embiid guarantees us one thing and that’s a high paced game by Philadelphia here, with not a lot of defense being played. When you have a team like the Warriors going against you, your best chance if to wear them down as they are showing their age a bit. That all promises a fun and entertaining game for us to watch, especially for those who don’t like seeing any defense played.
Golden State has gone over the total in 7 of their last 9. Philly is 20-15 on the O/U in road games. These two teams rank 4th and 11th in offensive efficiency this season, scoring 115.5 and 112.8 points per 100 possessions respectively. Although their head-to-head meetings have seen an average of only 210.3 points per game in the last 3 played, I think tonight’s game will be vastly different. I’m taking my chances with the points.
