Golden State Warriors

Golden State WarriorsGame 5 wasn’t pretty to watch if you were a Golden State Warriors fan. They were down by as much as 52 points at one point during the game and ended up losing by 39 points. They shot decently from the field converting on 45% of their field goal attempts and made 14 threes, however the defense just wasn’t there as they allowed the Grizzlies to score 119 points through 3 quarters.

To make matters worse, Memphis was playing without Ja Morant for the 2nd game in a row and was still able to dominate. That should be a wake up call for Stephen Curry and co. as they try to seal the deal in front of the home fans tonight. They’ve won 7 in a row vs Memphis in their own gym and are 15-5 SU in the last 20 meetings there.

Memphis Grizzlies

Memphis GrizzliesA total of 7 players scored in double figures in the Wednesday win for the Grizz, but now it’s the ultimate character test for a team playing without it’s biggest star. It was the 27th time this season they played without Morant and their 21st win, so judging by that they aren’t missing him all that much, but when it comes to elimination games you would prefer to have your best players available. Desmond Bane finally bounced back and scored over 20 pts for the first time in the series, Memphis is counting on him to be productive in tonight’s game as well.

The Grizzlies aren’t without optimism as they head to San Francisco, they’ve covered the spread 6 times in the last 7 meetings with the Warriors and are 10-1 ATS in their last 11 games vs Pacific Division teams. However, the one thing that should worry them is the fact that they’ve won just twice in their last 7 road games.

I think we’ll see a completely different approach from the Warriors than from what we saw in Game 5. This team is well experienced and knows that they cannot afford to lose tonight’s game and go back to Memphis for a decider on Sunday. Give me the Warriors to close it out at home and cover the spread.

Golden State Warriors vs Memphis Grizzlies Predictions

The total has now gone over in 2 of the last 3 games and in 3 of the 5 played in this series so far. The number has been set at 217.5 tonight, which has been eclipsed three times so far in this series. With this being a closeout opportunity for Golden State, you’d think they would come out aggressive and try to set the tone against the shorthanded Grizzlies. The Warriors are averaging  114.6 points per game in these playoffs which ranks them 1st out of the 16 teams that made it.

Memphis is just behind them with 114 per game, so if both teams reach their averages we are going well over the projected total tonight. If we look at just head-to-head meetings, the total has gone over 5 times in the last 10 meetings with the 2 teams averaging 221.5 points per game. For the Grizzlies the total has gone over in 8 of their last 10 games played in May, while for Golden State that’s been the trend as well with 8 of their last 11 all going over the total. I think we are in for an exciting close out game, with fireworks from both sides coming our way. Let’s back the over once again.
