Golden State Warriors
The importance of tonight’s game is a lot higher for the Warriors than their opponent, so I’m expecting Golden State to be much more assertive here. They’ve won only 3 of their last 10 games, but are currently on a 2-game win streak following their win at Sacramento 3 days ago.
They’ll need to continue winning if they want to keep hold of that 3rd seed in the West as the Dallas Mavericks are just a half game back with 2 games left to be played. The good news for Golden State is that they’re playing a team that’s already been eliminated from playoff contention, plus they’ve already beaten the Lakers twice this season, including the game played at Chase Center. Against Pacific Division teams the Warriors have gone 11-4 SU in the last 15 games, however against LA they are only 1-5 ATS in their last 6 at home.
Los Angeles Lakers
With their season pretty much over, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Lakers shut down their 3 star players. LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook are all questionable for tonight’s game, there’s a good chance we’ve seen the last of them for this season at least. LA is on a 7-game losing streak, they’ve dropped 16 of 18 on the road and things aren’t looking promising ahead of tonight’s game even if they are 7-3 SU in the last 10 meetings with the Warriors.
Lakers players are already making offseason plans, according to reports they will also have a new coaching staff next season as Frank Vogel is getting fired at the end of the season. The sooner Lakers fans forget about this season the better. If drastic changes aren’t made this offseason, it could be a while until we see the Lakers back in contention.
Golden State has covered in 22 of 40 home games this season, while the Lakers are just 11-28 SU on the road. I think tonight’s game will be a blowout, especially if none of the Lakers big 3 play here. Let’s back the home team to cover the spread.
Golden State Warriors vs Los Angeles Lakers Predictions & Odds
We have arguably the worst defensive team in the league going up against a top 3 offence in the NBA here, so anything but the total going over would be a shocker to me. The Lakers have cashed on the over 7 times in their last 10 games and in 7 of 9 vs teams from their own division. During this 7-game losing streak, teams have scored over 120 points against them in 5 games and over their last 3 they are allowing 121.3 per game.
Only 4 teams in the entire NBA allow more points per game on the road this season than the Lakers do, they continue to rank in the top 10 in terms of pace and that’s something that has hurt them all season long. The Warriors have scored 121, 117 and 116 points in the 3 meetings this season, so even without Stephen Curry they should have a productive night on the offensive end.
Jordan Poole has emerged as one of the biggest surprises in the NBA this season and is in the running to win the most improved award. Look for him to get at least 30 tonight and the score to go over the projected total of 221.5 Points.
