Turns out the Warriors are doing just fine without Stephen Curry, at least for now. After a tough loss vs the Lakers, the defending champions have now responded with 3 wins in a row and are looking in good shape holding on to the 6th seed in the Western Conference playoff race. Things could get tricky tonight though, as they face a Clippers side that beat them 134-124 just a couple of weeks ago.
The season series is tied at 1-1 currently, however the Warriors have the edge winning 4 of the last 6 meetings. Playing at home will give the Warriors a much needed boost here, they’ve got 25 wins in 32 games at Chase Center which is one of the best records in the NBA. LA has come out of the all-star break cold, they’re still adjusting to life with Russell Westbrook at the point-guard position. To blame the 3 losses on Russ wouldn’t be fair, the Clippers had their chances with 2 of those games going into overtime, they just couldn’t perform in the clutch. With no significant injuries to report, this team is in solid shape looking at the big picture, they just have to sort out a couple of issues they have chemistry wise in the remaining 20 games or so.
Beating the Warriors on the road will be a tough task, they’ve got just 1 win in their last 5 visits to Chase Center. LA enters the game as 2.5 point favorites, they are 25-13 SU in that role this season. However with a 2-6 ATS record over their last 8 games there are some concerns entering tonight’s game.
The outcome of tonight’s game will largely depend on the tempo of play the Clippers opt for. If they come out running they’ll have a chance to beat the Warriors, that was the plan in the last meeting and it worked to perfection. I think they have it in them to pull off another big win here.
